Our small stainless steel and concrete tanks allow us to vinify our single vineyards separately, preserving as much as possible of the individual traits of each «terroir» that makes up the Coruña del Conde landscape.

All the fermentations are allowed to start spontaneously with the grapes’ own yeasts, and we carry out continuous bâtonnages to give extra body to the wine.  The wine rests in French oak barrels for a minimum of 12 months and will be rounded out in foudres (large oak vats) before going into bottle.[/fusion_text][fusion_separator style_type=»none» top_margin=»15″ bottom_margin=»» sep_color=»» border_size=»» icon=»» icon_circle=»» icon_circle_color=»» width=»» alignment=»center» class=»» id=»» /][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=»1_6″ layout=»1_6″ last=»true» spacing=»yes» center_content=»no» hide_on_mobile=»no» background_color=»» background_image=»» background_repeat=»no-repeat» background_position=»left top» border_position=»all» border_color=»» border_style=»» padding_top=»» padding_right=»» padding_bottom=»» padding_left=»» margin_top=»» margin_bottom=»» animation_type=»» animation_direction=»» animation_speed=»0.1″ class=»» id=»» border_sizes_top=»0px» border_sizes_bottom=»0px» border_sizes_left=»0px» border_sizes_right=»0px» type=»1_6″ first=»false» spacing_left=»2%» min_height=»» hover_type=»none» link=»»][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=»1_5″ layout=»1_5″ last=»false» spacing=»yes» center_content=»no» hide_on_mobile=»no» background_color=»» background_image=»» background_repeat=»no-repeat» background_position=»left top» border_position=»all» border_color=»» border_style=»solid» padding_top=»» padding_right=»» padding_bottom=»» padding_left=»» margin_top=»» margin_bottom=»» animation_type=»0″ animation_direction=»down» animation_speed=»0.1″ class=»» id=»» border_sizes_top=»0px» border_sizes_bottom=»0px» border_sizes_left=»0px» border_sizes_right=»0px» type=»1_5″ first=»true» spacing_right=»2%» min_height=»» hover_type=»none» link=»»][fusion_imageframe image_id=»12497|full» max_width=»» sticky_max_width=»» style_type=»none» blur=»» stylecolor=»» hover_type=»none» bordersize=»0px» bordercolor=»» borderradius=»0″ align_medium=»none» align_small=»none» align=»center» margin_top=»» margin_right=»» margin_bottom=»» margin_left=»» lightbox=»no» gallery_id=»» lightbox_image=»» lightbox_image_id=»» alt=»» link=»https://ermitadelconde.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/FT_ENG_EDC-TEMPRANILLO-ALBILLO-2016.pdf» linktarget=»_blank» hide_on_mobile=»no» sticky_display=»normal,sticky» class=»» id=»» animation_type=»» animation_direction=»down» animation_speed=»0.1″ animation_offset=»» filter_hue=»0″ filter_saturation=»100″ filter_brightness=»100″ filter_contrast=»100″ filter_invert=»0″ filter_sepia=»0″ filter_opacity=»100″ filter_blur=»0″ filter_hue_hover=»0″ filter_saturation_hover=»100″ filter_brightness_hover=»100″ filter_contrast_hover=»100″ filter_invert_hover=»0″ filter_sepia_hover=»0″ filter_opacity_hover=»100″ filter_blur_hover=»0″]https://ermitadelconde.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Tempranillo_Albillo_peq.png[/fusion_imageframe][fusion_separator style_type=»none» top_margin=»15″ bottom_margin=»» sep_color=»» border_size=»» icon=»» icon_circle=»» icon_circle_color=»» width=»» alignment=»center» class=»» id=»» /][fusion_text]

In the extreme north-east of the  Duero Valley there are still old Albillo Mayor vineyards. Our commitment is to mantain the cultivation of this grape varietal which is in danger of extinction. Albillo has been cultivated in this area since the time of the Roman Empire.

GRAPE Albillo Mayor 100%.

VINEYARD Indigenous grape in danger of extinction recoverd in our vines more than 100 years old. Paraje la Pilara and Camino de Alcoba 972 metres high north face.

SOIL Limestone, clay and rocky soils.

HARVEST Manual harvest.

OAK AGED 12 months aged in french barrels and foudres.

ALCOHOL 13% by vol.

THE WINE-MAKING PROCESS The boxed grapes are kept in cold storage for 12 hours at a temperature of 4º C. Grape clusters are selected and pressed to obtain the must, which subsequently soaks for 24 hours at 10ºC. Afterwards, the vineyard’s native yeasts produce fermentation in stainless steel tanks and French oak foudres.

THE AGING PROCESS Mixed aging is carried out in new and used Burgundy barrels, French oak foudres and stainless steel tanks for a minimum of 12 months in contact with the fermentation lees.

TASTING NOTE Pale yellow colour with greenish rim. Good intensity with hints of pip fruit, white flowers and a spicy, mineral background. Fresh and balanced on the palate with a deeply tactile mouthfeel and a long finish, stone fruits appear together with vanilla and toasted wood on the back palate

In the extreme north-east of the Duero Valley are many old vineyards surrounded by  low mountains covered with holm oaks. It is our mission to mantain these mountain vineyards from which we produce such special wines.

GRAPE Tempranillo 100%.

VINEYARD Old vines more than 60 years old located in paraje Otero, Valdiguel 943 metres high face south-southwest.

SOIL Limestone and clay.

HARVEST Manual harvest.

OAK AGED 12 months aged in french barrels.

ALCOHOL 14.5% by vol.

THE WINE-MAKING PROCESS The boxed grapes are kept in cold storage for 12 hours at a temperature of 4º C. Double selection of bunches and grapes is made on our selection table, and finally the grapes are lightly crushed and placed in concrete and steel vats where the vineyard ‘s native yeasts produce fermentation. Maceration time is 17 days, during this time no pumps are used in the wine-making process, just daily pigeage to create a really delicate wine. After pressing, we only use the free-run juice, later the wine is put into barrels where malolactic fermentation takes places along with the aging process.

THE AGING PROCESS Made in new and second-year used barrels of fine-grained French oak for a minimum of 12 months and dried wood barrels for a minimum of 3 years. Subsequent barrel-aging is carried out in 3000-litre barrels for a minimum of 6 months.

TASTING NOTE Deep cherry red with garnet hues; on the nose, aromas of dark fruit, blackberries and blueberry confit with notes of balsamic and creamy chocolate and coffee on a spicy background. Intense, oily, silky mouthfeel with hints of dark fruits, vanilla, toffee and bitter coffee. Vanilla comes through on the back palate. Very long finish.

At the foot of the Sierra de la Demanda and close to Duero Valley is located San Roque area where old Tempranillo vineyards express a singular character and authentic freshness.

GRAPE Tempranillo (Tinto del País) and Albillo skins.

VINEYARD Old vines more than 100 years old in San Roque paraje, south face 1,012 metres high.

SOIL Iron-rich and clay soil.

HARVEST Natural harvest.

OAK AGED 24 months in new french barrels.

ALCOHOL 14,5% by vol.

THE WINE-MAKING PROCESS The boxed grapes are kept in cold storage for 12 hours at 4º C. Double selection of clusters and grapes is made on the selection table. Lastly, the grapes are lightly crushed and placed in the tanks by gravity flow. 5-10% Albillo grape skins are added, then the vineyard’s native yeasts produce alcoholic fermentation. Maceration lasts around 15 days, and afterwards only free-run juice is transferred into new barrels where malolactic fermentation takes places with periodic lees stirring and subsequent aging.

THE AGING PROCESS Aged in French oak barrels for 24 months with a transfer at 12 months to clean the lees.

TASTING NOTE Cherry red colour with garnet glints. Aromas of dark fruits on the nose (prune, blackberry and blueberry) with light hints of clove and spices with a cedar wood finish. Very intense, fresh, silky and long on the palate, with spicy balsamic notes and very mature fruits in liquor coming through.
